Spring Workshop: Reducing Tillage in Organic Dairy

Join OGRAIN and UW-Madison Extension for our spring workshop in Viroqua, WI, to hear all about reducing tillage in organic dairy systems. Our speakers will share the latest research on reducing tillage in organic corn, equipment for minimizing tillage in organic, tips to help with organic certification, and crop rotation recommendations. We’ll leave ample time for discussion, so bring your questions!
This is a free event, but we greatly appreciate pre-registration to help us plan for lunch.

More about our Speakers
Presentations will include Erin Silva’s session on strategies for minimizing tillage in organic corn. She’ll share Silva Lab research into minimizing tillage in organic corn systems including interseeding cover crops on 30” and 60” corn rows, management of living mulch corn systems, and no-till planting corn directly into cover crops.
We’ll also hear from researcher Ben Brockmueller on equipment considerations for successful organic no-till management. He’ll lead a discussion exploring what equipment and tools are needed to successfully implement organic no-till grain systems and an exploration of the latest research into the efficacy of these tools.
County Conservationist, Dave Hettenbach, will share organic certification tips gleaned from his career as an Organic Inspector.
Andy Glodowski, experienced Soil Agronomist/Independent Consultant with Bluff Country Feed & Seed, LLC, will provide insight into cover cropping for successful row cropping.
