For New and Beginning Farmers
OGRAIN is rich in resources and support for new and beginning farmers interested in organic grain production.
We recommend you join the OGRAIN Listserv to access conversations between farmers, researchers and industry folks about best practices, problems and solutions. ograin+subscribe@g-groups.wisc.edu . There’s an archive of past conversations offering endless wisdom to tap into.
The OGRAIN YouTube channel offers hundreds of videos from several years of engaging conference workshops to field tours and more. Choose a topic and learn a lot!
Our “Information by Topic” page brings together videos, written pieces and websites organized by topic, allowing you to follow your interests via a diversity of educational tools.
Check out the OGRAIN Compass and “Turning Grain into Dough” workbook, resources to help you understand the financial implications of various crop decisions.
Visit the OGRAIN Community Map to find farmers and suppliers in your area that are also interested in organic grain production. Contact them, plan a visit to learn from a peer!
In winter 2021, join us for weekly online workshops/discussions about organic grain production issues.
Once we get past covid-19 restrictions, plan to attend in-person events, including summer field days and a winter conference, to meet others, learn best practices and engage in inspiring discussions.
